Ok, I need to get some new tires pretty soon. I don't mind the F1's, but I want something with a stiffer sidewall to get that extra steering response and handling. Can anyone make some recommendations on what to get? I would really appreciate your advice/help.
Thanks,

I got the Nitto 555's, and I love 'em. I drove Ronald's truck, and didn't like the Toyo's as much, they're alot harder, and don't have the rain traction, either, and are noisier.
I'd say go with the NIttos.

Another for Nittos. I've got NT555s all the way around. They just seem like a better tire tire than the F1s, and considering I have had them on the truck for about 17000 miles and they still look pretty new, I think they'll last a while as well.

Wow, thanks for all of your replies guys.
Cammin4v - which Toyo's were they? The proxes?
I like the idea of the 555's up front a 555R in the back, are you guys all staying with the same size as the stock 295/45 tires? Also, would you guys say the 555's and 555R's perform well in the rain? Sorry for the questions, I just like to make sure I get the right tire here.
Thanks again,

I would be really careful putting the 555R's on the rear during the rain. I've hear more than one horror story about trucks spinning around on the hwy just going 45mph or so on a rain slicked road.
I've had 2 sets of the F1's and were very happy with them, and decided to go with the 555 on this latest set. So far I'm happy with them too. They are very comparable to the F1's, maybe a bit better wet traction and a bit worse dry traction than the F1's but not enough to make a difference. My understanding is that they will last a exta 5K miles or so.

I'm with him, dr's are only good in the dry, if you're doing aLOT of dragging, not to mention you'll get maybe 6k out of 'em, if you :ron: your truck...
Also, in my experience, the F1s are not stickier than the NIttos, since (accoridng to Avalanche) the Nitto's use Type 2 compund, vs, the Type 3 compound the F1s use. And, either way, IMHO the Nitto is a much better tire all around, I saw my autocross times improve fairly significantly over the F1 with the Nittos.

Another vote for the Nitto's.. I have the 555's all around and their wet traction is WAY better. I do think that the F1's dry traction is better but not by much..
