Are the 4.6 F150 heads the same as the 5.4? Had a future family member launch a plug in his 00 F150 and was wondering if they have the same issues?

I think after '01 they were the same but not quite sure. I know they are refered to as the PI heads.

Yep your right, I just looked it up in one of my old MMFF mags.

My 4.6 Mustang has PI heads on it too.

I don't think it has the power to "launch" a plug like a Lightning, maybe it caughed up a plug :rolleyes:

the plug launch problem is on 4.6 and 5.4 motors...

Vince at Texan was telling me the 4.6 doesn't have this same issue as the 5.4's:confused:

no way are we paying $1290 for a new head on a 145K truck.

I think I'll go looking on the mustang boards for a used one.

they do have the same problems, the 5.4 more than anything. Nice what u can find on the fords dealer websites...

Which head does he need? I have two sets, one set off the blown motor that are damaged and probably not useable, but I also have another set that I know one side is good. I think I need to change the cam. There may be one serviceable for him. Come take a look at them.

I have a set of heads that were just rebuilt that I do not need now. Let me know.

My pass side is the good one. I shot the plug out of the drivers side.
