I have the same noise on my 04. But i dont drive it daily so it dosent bother me that much. But sometimes backing out of a spot at 7-11 or such.. POP!...POP!... :o kinda embarassing but oh well. I have heard some of the people that install the "clunk" washers 80% of them it seems to go away while the others they say that it dosent go away but it quiets it down quite a bit. I guess i should buy and install them one of these days. :)

jusy curious if this applies to the 03's? and did it make the clunk since you have had the truck or just start all of a sudden?

the clunk is on all years :hammer:

It hapens when you make a real hard turn, usually for me backing up. It did this on my 2002 and now my 2004 Lightning.

I've noticed my driver-side lower ctrl-arm bolt traveling some through the years, but I CANNOT get a clunk sound!

I've driven out to a big parking lot and cranked the wheel hard left and right with gas/brake in drive and reverse to work the front suspension. Can't make it "clunk".

Here's mine as it rolled off the assy. line w/no clunk washers...

I have 4500 miles, and it just started doing it.I think the severe incline on my driveway hasnt helped. It sounds so bad i have had several comments like WTF is that?Guess i will try the trick washers. You would think after @ least 2 years of klunkers they would fix that shiat. :bs Does Terry have these washers?

Its a real shame that Ford coulnt fix this after 5 years... My 2000 clunked and it still clunked after I had the washers installed.

My 2004 only has 5000 miles - ill take it to the dealer just to watch them tell me nothings wrong...

Ford designed the holes like they did for "alignment purposes" Most of the time when you hear the clunk after the clunk washers its the steering stops. Put some grease on them and i bet the clunk will go away.

Thats so they can align one wheel ???

I believe the klunk is from the aft bolt on the drivers side. Here is the pic, and you can see how much it has shifted by the scores.I would like to see where to grease the steering stops if anyone has pics.

I had the "Herb" washers replaced 4 years ago and I still have the clunk. My front end alignment was fixed tho. No more cupping of my tires.
