What do stock rotors cost, new from Ford, or new from other sources?? I've got one that seems like it's warped, but the shuddering under braking is really intermittent. It's not the rears (checked that), and the shuddering/pulsing isn't very hard, or regular, it comes and goes.

If you are going to do that, then go ahead and upgrade to the EBC's from Terry. I got the first set and others have followed suit. You wont believe the difference and its money well spent. They have saved me so many times from an accident.

I'd love to, and it's on my list, but I just can't afford to do it now. I know that both rotors were turned last year, and the left was turned the year before that, so it's likely the left and another turning will just make it worse; so for a stopgap solution, replace the rotors. I've got a guy who'll give a set with 12k miles on them, if I pay shipping. Hence the stupid question: will it be cheaper to buy 'em new locally, or pay the shipping?

Cool stuff reasonable in price too (except for when comparing to rotors and pads only).

I hear you on the cost issue...

The way I look at it now... I am on my 3rd set of rotors due to NAPA ceramic pads (read... never, never, ever use those pads) getting ready to turn my rotors again due to glazing from my current ceramic blend pads, which work much better. Their kit will allow my to put this trash to bed once and for all plus add a little bling to it.

$2,795 isn't cheap. Maybe we can get a group by or something going. I'd be more than happy to use my source inside to see if we could get a decent price...

Just need takers... anyone interested?

i bought some off of ebay (made in china) for $250 (includes shipping for all four).
i was initially worried about cracking, but they don't have a lot of holes to crack. i'm please with them. i really noticed the difference this weekend after pulling my car to the track.
i got some HPS pads. they work fine after they have a chance to warm up a bit.

Sweet... Hopefully there will be a few takers on the group buy thing... I would sure like to get them cheaper. I know the sales guy there so I am hoping this will work.

Never done a group buy before so I hope I am not stepping an anyone's toes. If I am... please educate me with the proper channel for group buys.

I ordered mine from Tire Rack, they're also slotted.

It the vibration is intermittent you should first check the tire balances and inspect the bearings.

How soon do you need them? I'll sell you some used ones cheap. All it'll cost you is a Saturday to install my new EBC's on mine, and some beer.

You gave me some helpful suggestions on the V1, so I am returning the favor. When talking rotors for a high performance vehicle, I would strongly suggest cost be secondary.

I would also recommend going back to stock rotors as a preference to cheap slotted and drilled rotors. A rotor can crack completely through before you know it and you really don't want to find out at the end of a WOT run down the highway.

Dammit, why the hell didn't you say that LAST SUMMER when I was asking about what brake pads to get???? :flaming: :flaming: :flaming: I freakin' bought a set of NAPA Ceramix for my front brakes, just guessing becuase I couldn't get a decent bit of feedback! :crying:

Either way... when I rotated the tires, neiterh rotor looked too bad, or felt like they were warped when I spun the wheels off the pavement. THe left one felt like it was harder to turn than the right, but that may have been because I was really tired by that point. :shrug:

The left one warped once, about 2 years ago, because the caliper locked; caliper was replaced, rotor turned. The right was fine. Both got turned last summer when I cooked 'em at MSR, and that's when the ceramix got put on.

If I were employed, I'd do it in a heartbeat; as it is, I have to desist. :( Thanks for the offer, tho.

You got it. Mike (PoorSVTMan) is hosting my WWFB/P party at his place this coming Saturday (look for the thread) to put on my FRPP and Hellwig and (hopefully) clunk washers, so mebbe we can roll you in on it (speak up Mike, if it's too much, say it now). And if not, I can make it another Saturday, and get grimy with ya, if you have the tools--my set is piss-poor, thanks to them growing legs and walking off:mad:.

Oh, I'm 100% on board with you on this, Rocks... if you ever read my dissertations on brake rotors, especially holed/slotted ones, you know that I will NOT settle for anything less than high quality.
