well i got a boat a couple days ago and it was kinda a spur or the moment type thing, not something we really had planned out, but it was free gift from father in law, so what can I say.... well needless to say, we didnt have cabins, etc booked months ago so now im here on 4th july weekend with a boat, but nowhere to go...

does anyone know of somewhere I can go thats on the lake (any lake) where me and about 8 or so people can go and hang out and be on the water to dock the boat, etc... thinking of even campin out now, but would choose cabin or something first option....

if all else fails ill just drive out to a lake, but thought it would be more fun if i have more friends with me and we all stayed somewhere rather than taking only a few and driving back home that night, etc

Just pack a tent and hit a park by one of the local lakes

It will be BUSY but there are lots of parks...

Ill be at Lewisville lake most of the weekend. No tents for me though - I like AC too much

Lewisville is going to be a mad house

The best depends on what you want - Location , activities etc

On the BIG map its just east of the K in Hickory Creek

As was stated before make sure you want to be behind the wheel the first time on the biggest holiday weekend on the busiest lake in Texas.
Dont take this the wrong way but.....
In large part Its a dangerous lake because lots of people like you with little experience throw themselves in the hot water with out taking the time to get used to it...

i understand what you are saying, i dont plan to do any sking or anything this weekend, just wanna take the boat out and have a good time... i was more thinking of just getting out there, and getting a little sun and takin it easy... thats why the lewisville party cove is attractive to me....

I would recommend Ray Roberts, and if you are wanting to camp your best bet would be in the park with the entrance from Tioga. It is on the North Part of the lake

There are a number of coves which should not be too crowded.

I absolutely agree with Doug, Lake Dallas is not the place to take an unfamiliar boat this weekend. That is one of the most dangerous lakes in the US.

Just my $.02 worth:cool:

When I had my boat and we took it out 2-4 times/week. I stayed off of the water on July 4th weekend. Too many idiots and too many Wardens.

Yep - The thing is when you are spending nearly $10k a year on a boat and slip you have to make use of it when you can. I have 20 people lined up to hit the lake this weekend.

Its important to be careful and prudent but that applies ANY day.

35 years ago this weekend I was on a boat that blew up 3 times.. And that wasnt on the "worlds most dangerous lake "
So Im more careful than the average bear.

Yeah, imagine how dangerous it would be if you took your boat to Yellow Belly. That would be like double-dangerous.

I dunno.. I figure getting run over by a boat is pretty bad...
