I've been around a while but never heard of this, very interesting, to those of us with 4x4s.

Okay being an engineer, how in the world did someone think of doing this?

Lots Of Beer.

I've had lots of beer...a couple of times...working on it now...watching the NASCAR race..but how in the world would you think that golf balls in your tire would be a good thing?

Sorta' curious about the whole idea, myself.

Here's a good write-up on the Airsoft pellet vs. the golfball approach: http://4x4trailhunters.com/article.php?id=18

I read about this concept back in the late-70's/early-80's, in Popular Mechanics/Popular Science, tho I can't remember who came up with the idea, tho it was a German concern. The item they discussed was a little plastic/cardboard card, with a plastic bubble ring, with little bb's in it; stick it to something that spins and needs balancing, and the bb's would align in the right spots and balance the item (fans, small motors, etc). Of course, as is PM/PS's wont, they used words like "could", "might", and "would" alot in the article, and speculated on their use in car tires as well.
