Anyone else need to change their fuel filter?
Mark? I'll get the beer?! :tu:
At 21K miles, I think I'm probably past due. And this is cheap, so I can afford it :D

Okay,
Buy your filters, buy lots of beer, and I'll supply the tools and direct the carnage.
Let me know when you want to do it. I'm always messing with something in the garage.

OK. I'll stop and get some beer Monday. I'll also stop by the dealer to see if they have a filter.
For those that are not familiar: cans only are allowed near the garage.
Do you have the filter removal tool, Mark?
Thanks!!!
Tues or Weds night?
Cya!

I'm good for mon-wed myself. Get the filter at dealer or what? Can we get line mod here in town, or do we have to order from PSP?

Motorcraft you can buy at O'reilly's. Make sure they use the book to catalog it. Last time I changed my filter I had to go back because I grabbed the filter for f150. As far as tranny kit is concearned check with L8-Apex. He probably has one in stock if you can't find one. :tu: Also if you guys need a certified ford tech to help with the job just let me know where you are at and I'll bring my certificates and more beer. Cans of coarse.

Make sure to use the Motorcrap filter others have been known to be hell coming off the second time due to barb differences.

hello guys
trans star has the mod line valve but they also have a kit to update all four valves at the same time . while your there pick up the valve body reprogramming kit and custom tune your shifts. this kit comes with different springs for the line mod valves to set the shifts as soft or neck snapping shifts.

If the party's tonight I'm likely to be a little late. I didn't bring a change of clothes and don't plan on getting under the truck in my fine work duds! I'll have to run home to "Oklahoma" and get changed to git dirty! Lemme know and I'll go get a filter and some beer as well!!

Where should I go to get a filter and how much do they run? I looked up those 2 part numbers in Doug's post on fordpartsonline and it didn't recognize either of them. What is the correct part number, how much, where? I need to get one today so where is the good place?
THANKS!

I just went to O-Reilly and they have them for about $10.....uh.....I mean...$50, yeah (I want a piece of your profit, Doug!:twitch: ) The first number is the one most parts stores use and the second is the one Ford uses (they both point to the same part).
Cruise99 (Craig), we're related? Cool, I always wanted a little brother to beat up on!

WTF?!?!
I just got back to work from O'Reilly's and they gave me the wrong part #. I'd neglected to write down the number, but I did make them look it up! Well, back to O'Reillys @ 5 to fix this!
They gave me part # FG-872. What a bunch of idiots!!!!!!!

OK, I went back by O'Reilly's & the guy showed me the difference according to their database. The number Doug & Mark posted is only good for 99-00. The number I posted is for 01+
I guess we'll know in a few minutes if that guy is right or wrong!

I missed the filter party the night before but Mark was gracious to lend me the tool to change this out.:tu:
I've attempted to change this out using several different tools before. If you're going to do this get the one from NAPA that Mark has- accept no cheap substitutions:)
It's amazing the difference in throttle response after changing this out:D (I had 45K on the original):hammer:

I bought the little tool kit shown in the "how-to" on svtlightnings.com. Worked like a charm!! I had all the rags ready, but still spilled fuel all over myself!! It's a little hard to move out of the way when you're flat-backing it!!
What was going to be a 15-minute job turned into an hour or so when I lost the cap to the valve from the fuel rail between the manifold and passenger side cylinder head. Never did find that stupid thing, but I think it's sitting beside the third cylinder coil pack. Maybe I need a few WOT runs to knock it out of there!!:burnout:
