Well, I've been kicking around the idea of an AR-10 (.308 Win.) rifle similar to this for deer hunting and the range:

I've been mousing around these urls and am trying to decide whether to buy pre-assembled or DIY:

I know Moonshine builds his own tack-driver ARs and I'm impressed with his work. :bows

Opinions?

Nah, that Moonshine guy does crappy work.

An AR10 would be fine for hunting from a blind, but they're pretty heavy if you plan to do much walking around. As for factory or custom, it all depends on what you want. If you're happy with what the factory offers you can buy an off-the-shelf gun for a lot less than you'd spend on a custom. If you say "Well, I like the brand X AR10, but I'd really want to replace the trigger, float tube, and barrel" then you'd be better off to just go custom from the get-go.

I fail to see the logic in hunting mosquito's with must now be, 80 year old white boys from Wyoming with rusted 'old rocket launcher thingies...

Gimme a drunk mexican and a bottle of crown with a 9mm anyday... We'll kill every damn mosquito that ever lived eh...

I see we have a house-full of comedians. :D

I've always liked the AR concept, but the .223 is on the light-side for deer. The AR-10 can basically do it all, with alot of aftermkt. offerings to suit individual tastes. knana

Got my eye on some of those 24" HBAR, flat-top rifles. :)

Your humor detector is broken...

Anyone who's ever seen Monty Python's Flying Circus knows EXACTLY what I was talking about, I just couldn't find a pic of the particular skit.
