Thanks to some help from TALON brother Mike I got my Trans Flow installed today. I am most pleased with the rugged commercial quality of the tank, both in materials and instructions. The first fill up held about 46.7 gallons to the tune of $110 bucks:eek: . I plan on making 700 miles running empty though:cool: .

I have to admit that it looks pretty cool... However, do you have to take out a loan everytime you fill up? WOW...

Due to the extra weight of the fuel, does the truck "lean" to one side? Or do you have to go have the front end re-aligned? Just curious as to any unforeseen side effects.

Just curious, how many gallons did the stock tank hold?

Terry's internet access is down, so I'll try to answer some of the questions.

Gary, the stock tank on a short bed is 29 gallons according to the window sticker, and 30.5 according to the owner's manual. I think Terry has managed to get 31 into his stocker. TransferFlow claims 46 for the replacement tank, so it's about a 50% increase.

Dana, our trucks are mechanically optioned the same. Both have the camper package, and a total load capacity of 2,300 lbs (not counting a trailer). I can't imagine that an extra 16 gallons of diesel (what, maybe an extra 100-120 lbs) would make the truck list to one side.

I'm thinking real hard about having Terry put one of these in my truck also.

I'm thinking real hard about having Terry put one of these in my truck also. If I had a similar truck I'd definitely get one. Seems like a no-brainer since it fits under the truck. Ford should have made the tank that big in the beginning.

just guesstamating ( ) with his loaded car hauler trailer he should see 150 more miles out of a tank of gas, thats with about 8,000-10,000lbs of towing weight not including the weight of the truck
Moonshine, it is a bad piece of metal knana , I would say pull the trigger and get one, with terry's usual drink, 4 wheeler sale, and other usual Terry mid work stops it took about 2 hours to install

I have the perfect arrangment. Since I work just around the corner whenever I have Terry perform his magic I just drop it off, walk a block to work, and when the day is done my ride is ready. No waiting, no killing time. :D

I presume this means he sold his 4 wheeler? Good deal.

Most diesel folks run a 50-100 gallon cell in the bed as I am sure you have seen. They look like or are combined with diamond plate tool boxes. Trans Flow makes them as well and a complete monitoring system to calculate range, level, and automatic transfer of fuel. My internet at home is down until at least Thursday. If anything the truck will ride a little better full of diesel. So far I have driven 200 miles and the gauge is just coming off of full:cool: normally it would be about half which would suck for 24 hours.

Well I finished off my first TFS tank today with a reserve of 4 gallons which equates to about 50 miles range if it could pick up every last drop. But I didn't feel that lucky today. I hauled the bread box about 80 miles Saturday so I got about 10mpg then. I filled up at 608 miles and it held about 42 gallons. The gauge is very accurate I am pleased with its performance. I was very grateful to have the extra fuel this week. It has already earned its keep Friday alone! After working until 2am Saturday morning on Dana's truck. The last thing I wanted to do was hunt for diesel and fill up as would be the usual. But I still had plenty of range no worries there:tu: .

The exact numbers were 42.683 gallons, 608.3 miles and $97.27 for an average of 14.27mpg including 80 miles hauling 10K lbs._ So it seems I have a hundred dollar a week fuel habit. That means I have to do a plug change every week just for gas money:eek: .

I have renamed my Trans Flow tank! From here forward it will be referred to as my 500#'er. Paying hommage to the old 500# conventional bombs we have dropped on about every country we engaged. I came up with this term after doing some math.... With an empty shipping weight of 158lbs for the tank and 46 gallons of diesel at 7lbs a gallon it comes to ta total of 480 gallons. That is one heck of a bombknana .
