A 3 hour window!
When my cable guy comes I usually get the "between noon and June" time frame.

This is why I dropped Comcast like a hot potato....they suck......they screw up your service due to "upgrades" and then act like they're doing you a favor by coming out next week sometime to repair it.......sorry bastards :throw:

I can't complain about Comcast. I was somewhat joking about the noon-june thing. Typically they give me a four hour window. At my house, I have great throughput, but I know one guy who says his service is slower than his old ISDN connection.
I live too far from a CO to get DSL and satellite is too expensive.
I guess I could always go back to dial-up.

That's who i have now. The full meal deal phone,Dish, long distance and DSL. Only a little more than just the cable/phone I had with Suckcast:throw:
Although I am about to switch services again....time for a T1 :)

T1 is slower than the COmcast connection I have now and much slower than the Fios connection I hope to get soon
Also typically in the $350-$100 a month range

Let me know when you want that. I can do a referral and get credit for it.

Next month or so. I will most likely be going through you folks, so i'll let you know.
As far as Doug and your throughput rates, let me know what you're gauranteed. If you're getting it on cable now, let me assure you it will be short-lived ,and you are the exception. I also used to get 1.7-1.8+ down, it dwindled to way less than the lowest gauranteed DSL rates before I walked.
Trust me when I tell you I know more than a little bit about bandwidth and how I can achieve it in the most efficient method.....it is afterall how I make my living.
Also on the FIOS, it's a bang up deal if you can get it, I live in S. Arlington, it's not happening anytime soon. I can get the T for around $150-$200~ish a month....depending on what Adam wants to hook me up with ;)

Each provider is going to have their problems.....thus far SBC has been head and shoulders above Comcast for me. I've only had one outage since I've had them for 9+ months. When I had Comcast I literally had an outage every time it rained.

here is help to connect to the cable modem to see what its doing
Many models of cable modem provide diagnostic information on web pages which can be read at address http://192.168.100.1/ (http://192.168.100.1/).
For many models of cable modem (and for the Surfboard or Tailfin when they are not online to the cable network), you must temporarily manually configure your computer to have an IP address in the same sub-net as the cable modem diagnostic address. For instance, if your cable modem address is 192.168.100.1, you would configure your IP address to be 192.168.100.2. Remember to return your configuration to "automatic" DHCP working afterwards before you try going online to the network.
