I have never had front plates and luckily never had a ticket for it.

There was a bill introcuced in the legislative session which would have only required one plate, but I don't think that bill passed. I have not yet seen a full legislative update, so there may be a different bill that I'm unaware of. Anyone have any definitive info, like a HB or SB number?

It passed the House, but as Moonshine pointed out it still has a LONG way to go before it actually becomes a law. Don't hold your breath, and you can still get tickets for no front plate. That being said, I will still not put the front plate on my truck. :evil

I believe it's HB 3540.

HB 3540 did not survive. As for any other bills, unless it became law following the 79th Regular Session, it is HIGHLY unlikely that it would be considered during this or subsequent special sessions. Only possibility is if it got tacked on as a amendment to a school finance bill.

I'm not saying it didn't happen, but so far I have yet to see any bill that passed making any change to Transportation Code 502.404 (requiring two plates).
