Need to lower 2003 L front 2". All sites/kits I have seen are only 1". Anyone know what is compatible, without cutting spring?
Update: Thanks for the Info guys

A 2" solution is fairly common. There are quite a few manufacturers that just use a 2" coil spring. I'm running a 2" drop on a Belltech springs on mine. One problem with using a 2" drop spring is that it is right on the edge of whether you will be able to get your truck aligned correctly. I'm at the maximum adjustment on mine for caster and camber and still get just a little uneven tire wear on one tire, all in all not really that bad just a matter of what you are willing to live with.
A Roush kit is a 2" drop, but they quit making them and probably not that many left to buy, although the people that have them really seem to like them.
Belltech has some 2" drop spindles that just came out. There seem to be some fitup issues on the Lightning but they will work. The benefit of these is that it retains your factory suspension geometry. One of the problems with using a coil springs for a drop is that it changes the geometry and introduces bumpsteer on our trucks. This is more noticable with a 2" coil vs. a 1" coil. So this is one of the better solutions IMO once they get the fitup issues worked out.

Post up in Terry's forum Performance Research. I'm sure he can help :tu:

Hey jason do you have cam bolts? Im almost as low as you if lower and i dont see a problem getting into specs...
If you dont have the cam bolts let me know. I have a extra set of Ford Cam bolts, They are used to are in good shape
Also a 2inch drop spring will only drop a Lightning about an inch maybe a tad more... The FRPP kit uses 2inch drop coils and you get just a tad over an inch i believe. Heres a link to a thread where i installed the FRPP kit on Texs http://www.talonclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8779 Theres before and after pics.

The FRPP kit I got actually netted me 1.75F/1.125R drops. And Mike's right: a 2" rear drop shackle will only net you about an inch (half the advertised) because the axle is in the MIDDLE of the leafs, and pivoting about the front, so even if it's 2" long, it'll only drop an inch.
Try out the FRPP front springs, you might prefer how they look.

A 2" shackle for the leaf spring only drops the rear half of the leaf spring netting about 60% of this drop, so around 1 to 1 1/4" drop out of a 2" shackle. But a 2" coil spring usually give pretty close to a 2" drop on the front. I know my Belltechs were almost exactly 2 inches of drop in the front. Which we all saw later that settled settled a little more.
I don't know if I have Ford brand cam bolts, but the front alignment struggle with a 2" and over drop coil seems to be very common from what I've read. This seems to be hit and miss at the 2" level, some people don't have any problem getting the alignment correct, but many like me can get it close but not perfect enough not to prevent uneven tire wear. Maybe some brands of cam bolts offer more adjustment than others. If that's the case I need to find a set with a greater offset, but I've never seen this mentioned before.

That's about right. With 360lbs of salt in the bed by the tailgate, the truck sits PERFECTLY. I'll get pics soon, but I think it sank in the back just right, and lifted in the front just right. So, I'm thinking a 1/2" spacer up front, and a 3" shackle in back should do the trick. :tu:

I agree. Spacers are just a half-arse way of doing things. The spring and perch were not designed for them, and performance will suffer... potential geometry and deflection issues.
I'm betting a 2-3" shackle in the rear will get you where you want to be. :)

I think you're right, 3" should do the trick. The 360lbs of salt in the back right now is making it sit just right. :D
