Went up to denton last night, made two passes, both times i had to let up to get it out of the red, and get back in it to shift. It's a new trans, i just put in a line mod valve, what do i need to do next?

Does it shift normally otherwise, it doesn't hang or delay 1-2? Who built the trans? The VB is very important in commanding shifts you may check for sticking valves. Is it only the 1-2 or all shifts?

Yes, 1st to 2nd & 2nd to 3rd. It does shift normal when driving reg. Only sometimes it will shift very quickly out of 3rd to o/d. I replaced the old j trans to a later 01 trans.

If it doesn't shift until you let up it is usually burning clutches.

Ok doc, so you don't think a v/b or a tune to get the shift points where they should be is the prognosis?

A V/B is very important to shifting. A tune is not as stock should sift at 5200rpm and aftermarket should shift at 5400.
