Will a stock L radio and cd player plug and play in to a 1995 Ranger?

What year L did the radio come from? If it's a first gen then maybe. Second Gen no.

Let me ask a different way

My step son has a 1995 Ranger with no cd changer.
I would like to find a cheap possible factory pull out radio with a cd/player/changer.

Thanks for the help.

I see. Basically, adapting a factory radio to something it's not made for is more of a hassle than it's worth.
You can get a nice am/fm/cd/mp3 deck INSTALLED at Circuit City for under $150.

I think the 95 will need one of the old flat connector plug ins. Our radios have a square plug in. I agree with Gary they have smoking deals on aftermarket. There are also some period correct OEM pull outs on eBay.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll go shopping on E-bay and see what's up. I don't want him chopping into the harness like he did on his last truck.

No need to cut the harness. Any place that installs car stereo will have adapter harnesses that plug into the factory connectors in your dash and have open ended wires to splice to the aftermarket units wiring.

I bought a cheap 50x4 deck that plays MP3/WMA files for $99 with free installation at Best Buy on Friday....

Okay, saw nothing on e-bay. I'll keep looking, appreciate the help. I prefer stock radio looking installations.
I have the stock one in the K5, but I may have to upgrade that one soon, some of the mechanical push buttons are starting to not work.:D

As long as you can work out the physical installation, you can get the harnesses to make the electrical hook up. With the two different style Ford plugs you need to get the aftermarket harness for the Ranger which you can find anywhere and you also need to find the OEM radio harness for the Lightning radio. This one is harder to find but they are available. Once you have these two harnesses, the wires are color coded and you just wire them together plug the one into the factory Ranger radio plugs and the other end into the Lightning radio, no cutting on the factory Ranger harness or cutting off the radio plugs in your Lightning.

They have always been very helpful and have about every kind of harness needed to adapt factory wiring to aftermarket or later years OEM
