That list is Bullsh!t ...IMHO. I could have sworn that I watched some of you fellers ticking off 13.7x's stock.

The viper numbers seem like BS to me also. When I first started modding my L...well sort of, it was doing mid 12's. I was eating stock Vipers like cookie snacks out at ennis. They had to sic their buddy with the 200 shot on me to put me in my place. I bet those others numbers are BS too. I am just not familiar wiuth what they all do stock.

Rocks:Bullshit

No 2003 SVT Cobra? They somehow tested the new '06 Z06, but didn't get a late-model Cobra?

My '02 Z06 ran 12.3 @ 116 stock, and that was my first time to the track in an unfamiliar car.
Maybe they took the absolute fastest times from any mag publication they could find over time and consolidated them to make the list? Actually, that can't be it b/c I've seen faster magazine times for a lot of these cars (CTS-V has run 13.1 @ 110 stock according to Motor Trend).

I also don't think the Ford GT runs that quick/fast on the average to be honest.

But that is entertaining nonetheless. Thanks for posting it up!

What about a Buick Grand National I have seen this vehicle run low 12's

If you saw a truly bone stock one (not even an aftermarket chip installed) run low-12s, then it was downhill with a 50mph wind behind it. ;) If you go to the Grand National registry many GN's were in the high-13s bone stock and even the very limited production GNX didn't do better than low-13s... 100% bone stock.

They were great 0-60mph cars and therefore great 1/8mile cars stock. Once you started modifying them, mid-11s retaining 100% driveability was no problem at all.

Just like the Lightnings and Cobras, they are/were easy to modify pretty cheaply to get them to run much quicker than stock without a lot of work.

Gotta love factory forced induction. :d

Thinking about it, Adam and I witnessed Sayle(better known as SB), rip out 13.1or2 out at hallsville. we know he was stock....I played hell getting him to allow me to put a tune on his truck back then.I have heard of many 13.4x's.

sayle was/is the fastest recorded stock lightning (at least thats what he told me when I met him to buy some parts) He said it ran a 13.1

My L turned 13.46 at Hallsville stock, and my brother actually checked to make sure it wasn't chipped --- So I know they are at least that fast stock.

Mine went 12.6@119 at Hallsville completely stock....and that was with a 2.1 60'...so low low 12's are very possible.

LOL....Don't make me throw the flag on ya Wes....;) . There has to be more to this story.

I saw a slip from Tim for an 11 second pass with a tune and 4lber...there was a story to go with that one too. His slip showed a 1.20 sixty. :evil We decided that staging on your back wheels didn't count...:rll: .

Ron, I think you're being a bit hard on him. I'd say his times are average at best for a stock Viper, especially given that what my Z06 ran stock.

I bet Ron thought Wes was talking about a Lightning. That's what I thought when I read it. :o

I've got 2 slips at 12.6@119 from that day....they are very low 12 second cars stock....with any sort of traction, high 11's.

450hp/500tq....34xx lbs...very tall gearing......do the math.

BTW- What did the one with 200 shot put on you ? Had to have been a 10 sec pass.

Yep, lots of guys with low 12's and even high 11's stock. I've seen slips and video of a stock GTS going mid 11's with just drag radials....I don't know the other details(track, headwind etc) but it went mid 11's in the video.

LOL....yep...I thought Wes was talking about his Lightning. ...:o . The Viper is very believable.

The Vipers I took down at Ennis that night where all stock.....except for one...:D . He used a 200 shot and put at least a car length on me. The weird part at the time was that I stayed right with him until just past the eight mile...he pulled on me quick from there to the finish.

If I am not remembering wrong, my L was running mid 12's at the time...maybe even as quick as 12.4x's.
