It _is_ getting bad, I agree. But the cost will continue to rise a bit, I believe, and I firmly believe it will never see the south side of $2.00-2.50 again, unless the govt would choose to lend some aid (read: $$$) in the short-term while we get our own refineries operating at peak volume again.
Anyway, if you think about it, gas was in the .60c range back in the early '80s. So it has not even kept up with typical inflation (which has been rather low since the Carter administration left office). It was bound to happen at some point, especially given the cost of gasoline in other well-developed, industrialized countries.
This doesn't make any of us feel any better, though. It's hitting my pocketbook, too. :(

I filled up yesterday and it took TWO transactions because the pump shut off automatically at $50 :flaming:

What I like is price per barrel goes up $1.00-$1.25 and gas prices rise .10 per gallon. When oil goes down $3.50 per barrel we see no change in price......perhaps it's time for the government to reduce the tax a bit to ease the hit on the consumers wallet.

I was in the Saginaw area today and needed gas. I filled up the tank to the tune of $62.25, gas was $2.77 a gal. and i was on empty. I remember when I first got the L and it cost $34.00 to fill it. :Bullshit This is total B.S.!!!! :Bullshit
Hell just be like Jeff and put in 5 bucks like three times a day and always ride around on E:throw: and it won't seem so bad.

Once I hit E i usually get 50-55 miles before it starts cutting out, put $20 in this morning and hit 1/4 tank, and back on E again

No I have a pretty good street tune that is at 17 degrees advanced a a little extra on the fuel curves. On this tune I get 398 hp and 415 tq. I stay around 65 mph or so and I keep my RPMs at 2K or 2100 pretty much the entire drive. I drive about 100 miles a day.

I checked with my fuel card company today. My monthly fuel bill is starting to go past 3000.00 per month. This sh!t is killing me. I am thinking about sending out a notice to my biggest competitors that if they will go up on service calls...I will too. Our problem is that we are all afraid the other guy won't raise the rates and we will loose customers. Fact is...i can't keep absorbing the increased expense....I may just say , Fork It, and go up to what I have to charge. maybe the others will follow suite.

Uh, I dont think that is completely legal. You basically just described market collusion. Maybe it is, maybe not, IANAL.

When we get the tuner for the sonic last week, Terry put an 87 tune on the tuner as an option. Aaron hates 87....but I am curious what that tune would be like....of course, it won't save THAT much money so i guess there's not a point really.

Just speculating here, but I would think that an 87 tune would be mostly a matter of reduced timing.....maybe a little richer fuel. Personally, I wouldn't do alot of boost with 87. I would stick to the stock boost levels.
