Well, I know this isnt lightning related...but one day it might be, so Doug you may be moving this thread. I pulled the 302 out of my torino yesturday for a rebuild. The motor has good rings and seals but no oil pressure (oil pump is out / clogged), and the motor is sludged so i wanted to rebuild it anyway. I just need the crank machined, enigine nice and clean, the bores inspected, and new bearings.
Know a good affordable machineist around? Maybe even in the grapevine area? This is my first restoration so im learning as I go and I figured this is a good place to start.

You had a lot of work done from them?
Are they reasonable?

Another vote for Calvert. The shop does great work and Wayne oversees it all. Very meticulous.
Here's one to stay away from: Competition Machine in Plano. Horrible.

Just one motor for my old car a year ago. They came highly recommended by some mustang friends. I'm pretty particular about stuff and I thought they did a good job, answered a lot of questioned I had. I thought they were reasonable for the work I had done, but I don't have much to compare to.
