Good question - Tom needs to decide if he wants to deal with the pain that will be taking individual orders for prints ....

The extra bolt might be a little too much IMO. As far as prints, I suggest we sell a CD with all individual shots formatted for 8x10 and/or poster size and let the individuals get them printed if they choose. Let me stew on this one a while, but trying to manage getting individual shots printed will be a pretty major pain in the ass IMO...

Wow... what a good looking truck... :)
I think it would look a little better if it was cropped some more... maybe just the letters of Texas without the symbols on either side.
I really like the graphics though, if that is all you were looking for comments on... :)

The first few versians appear to have lots of really cool background:rolleyes: , with a very small pic of the truck in the center.
The later versian that actually zooms in more on the truck is what would get my wallet open.
Heck, now looking at it closer, I see it is just a bigger pic.....I suppose that will be the way to actually see a truck in the shot.

That is awesome... love it... Only thing that would have been better is to have the truck in front of or behind the TEXAS on the wall... so that anyone that sees the pic would know where that Truck is...
Although the Talon graphics help make the point... :)

Well you got lucky - There are 2 pics of your truck as you have seen. Either one could be cropped to make it larger in the shot.
Trouble is that there are 80 some closeup pictures - Not sure how many of you have experience with photoshop but individually tweaking 80+ 6mb+ photos and saving them takes a TON of time. ( open image, fix levels, sharpen, paste graphics , move graphics, reduce image size, save as jpg in new folder, close. Over and over and over )
So since Im not getting any younger I try to automate the process - As long as the changes you are making can be made to EVERY picture you can run them in a batch through photoshop. Start it and come back in 90 minutes and they are done. ( the pc doing it one after the other like a machine takes 90 minutes - think how long it would take manually ) I have done 2 versions of the closeups one with one lightning bolt and one with 2. I could tweak the batch script and crop them all BUT they would all be cropped the same.
There is also some discussion of the right way to handle the closeups - neither Tom no I want to deal with the individual orders and keeping them all straight. It would be a nightmare - Keeping in mind NONE of us is getting paid for this. We are thinking about just posting the pics in the gallery and letting people get to them. One thing we could do pretty easily is make a gallery section that is only visible to Supporting members and put the photos there. Or perhaps make some kind of new subscription that costs $ 5 or $10 and make it so the gallery lets folks who have subscribed see all the closeups.
Im not interested in making money at this but it would be nice to be able to give something to the photographer and to start a fund for next years picture. Maybe the right thing is to give away the 1024x768 version and charge a small fee for the full size version .... Of course Ronald would just print the 1024 x 768 version and be done. He would also claim it as proof his truck "was on the track " LOL
Anyway - what do you guys think ?

I'm not new to lightnings, but new to TALON, so I need to pay for my membership, but I would also be willing to pay a little extra to go towards the photos from this last shoot, and to go towards next years photo-shoot or other events.
I have to say that I love the close-up, and thank you for all of the time & effort you have put into this. I know how time consuming this can be... I've got an 8MP camera, and when I'm photoshopping, my puter isn't exactly lightning fast. So again, thanks for the time & effort you have put into this.

Really? :D I'm interested in buying one of the '04 prints for the new office. Any on-hand?
Personally, I'd like to see the prints as you posted, Doug, with no white-space in a "wide-screen" format. This do-able?
Just my $.02, but the latest pic looks better minus the extra L-bolts. The print would look less "busy" that way and more focused on the trucks.
Oh, and the L has technically been tracked... :D :burnout:

I have a few 8x10s of the 04 picture left
The wide screen would be doable its just that the widest that can be ordered reasonably is 30" and with the image only 8" high it would require a custom frame to look decent
As far as the bolts under the T in Talon - The graphic is the best high quality version in existence. To get the image that resolution and quality took a great deal of time that Im unwilling to redo. Besides I like it ..
That wide shot looks like a merge of 2 pics. I would like to try to do another merge with 2 decent full aspect ratio pics - Im supposed to get a few more images from the photog in a day or 2...
I may not be able to beat that image but I beleive that if we had the entire stands in the shot and the TMS name at the top it gives the pic scale and persepctive that the white space just doesnt do..

I don't like it.....:( . Maybe we could put a couple full aspect pics together with the stands and forground in it. Even with slight variation from side to side, it is better than all the white space.

I agree but - 2 pics side by side ont be the right aspect ratio either ... I dont know ....
One other option is to take the first image I posted and try to take a slice from another pic to make sure no trucks are cut off and make one picture. It should be easier to photoshop a slice onto the edge if we can find a decent donor picture

I don't know if you have the images to do it, but I merged 3 photos & it came out real good. (with the exception of being @ ground level)... Has all the trucks, and TMS @ the top... just a thought if you have 3 shots to work with (middle & both sides)
Thanks again for all your effort

I think you should chop out the white space, and let us get it as a wide shot like that, and let us put it in a custom frame (we can get frame kits to fit that, yanno). The white smace really kills it, unless the pic gets matted into a larger frame. BTW, what's the acrual dimensions of the actual picture? It looks pretty good, otherwise.

I think it looks pretty good, though I would have liked the grandstands in the shot. As far this goes, it looks awesome and I would say lets got for a custom, wide angle print. I think that will be the best looking way to get it printed. Now, to find a place that will do it inexpensively...
