Shell Gas

When I lived in California, I had an Accord that absolutely hated Shell gas. It seemed to run fine on it, but the engine would just turn over and over when trying to start. Typically it took around 5 minutes. It would run fine on the ARCO AM/PM Mini-Mart gas though. :rolleyes:

Anyway, it sort of gave me an attitude about it that still lasts today. Does anyone here use Shell gas in their L? If not, what kind of gas do you use? Do you feel like any brand is better than another?

I typically use Chevron, mostly out of convenience, and have also used Exxon with no problems.

chevron, shell, exxon and mobil here... i alternate the stations for each fill up.

I have had good luck with Shell in my area so far. My wife and I both got some bad gas from Citgo(7-11) though.

I usually use Racetrac, Quiktrip, or Wal-mart. I have not yet had a problem with either. I never use Diamond Shamrock because it makes my Mustang detonate like crazy.

I've used nothing but Shell since day 1. I may have strayed a time or three but Shell is my main fuel.

I have only used Shell the whole time. Never had a problem with it. I've also used QuikTrip, and never had problems with them. I'd suggest Shell, Texaco or QuikTrip.

Racetrack, Diamond Shamrock, Sam's... none of them ahve given me problems, and since we've moved it's been the first two.

I'm not upset with Chevron or anything. I have noticed Shell was a little cheaper, but I still had reservations from the Honda.


Good to see other L owners aren't having any problems with it.

I got bad gas from Sam's Club when I had my Cobra - Had to flush fuel system and the crap in the 3500 mile old fuel filter was nasty.
I stick to Texaco & Chevron. Both rated as "Top Tier" gas so I pay extra so I don't have to pay extra in the long run.

i think shell gas maybe my problem why i have been getting 240 to the tank i never noticed that till i filled up there the last 2 times. i changed today and have gone 80 miles and its used a 1/4 tank so far so good we will see when it runs out.

I run Shell 93 for the most part with some Mobil/Texaco as needed.

I've run Okla. 91 on occasion with no ill effects.

Am / Pm mini marts, know theres a flash from past, what part of cali. are you from? i'm from hermosa beach. anyway i never liked arco, always used chevron my self.

I lived in Anaheim from 87 to 96 and then moved down to Poway from 97 to 2000.

If the Marines count, I lived in 29 Palms from 79-81 and Camp Pendleton / Oceanside from 81 - 83.

I run Shell most of the time because its close to my house. Alternate Chevron and Texaco sometimes. No issues
