Most people here are probably Rangers fans anyway. It would be good to see Houston win though.

Being form the chicago I have always been a Sox fan. So it nice to see them doing good. Last night was a very close game so I would not say the Astro's are geting colbbered.

0-2 isn't exactly close. I'm bummed because the Angels got worked. I'm indifferent myself.

I know. I'm just trying to get you guys riled up. How about those Coybows the other night? That was the longest field goal that I've ever seen!

The Astros lost again. I'll admit that they put up a good fight and stuck it out but they are still 0-3. Does anybody in Texas like the Astros

You guys don't even care....that's ok because I don't either.

I care, just sucks to watch them try and hit with such poor pitch selection :hammer: . They knocked out Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt, they are doomed, three of the games great pitchers.

Usually the World Series is a small ball game? whats with the homers.

Plus against Oswalt the Sox just came out to hit, they were hitting really great pitches, shows their control to take outside pitches the opposite way, or sit back and wait for their pitch, rather than get behind in the count and try and get out of it. Although going into the 6th I thought Houston might have a chance.

Most Texans would love to see the Stros win, cause the Rangers will never have a prayer of winning.

Pluse the sox are pitching very good. Jenks keeps pitching that 100mph fast ball back to back. Dont know why the Astro's keep there pitcher in for so long. They may have had a better chance if they switched pitchers. In steed of walking that last point for the Sox.

The Rangers have the nicest stadium, biggest budget and owner and worst records. I grew up going to games in the other old Arlington stadium. They were known as the "Strangers" back then. When they built the new stadium it was like, damn! What a waste of money for a ass sucking team! Then they bought Nolan for the rest of his career and he pitched two more no hitters:bows . But even the aged Nolan could not carry the team. Yeah for Texans in general though when it comes to copetition.:tu:

You are right a 40+ pitcher still throwing 100+ can't carry a team. He would start every fifth game, and even then if you don't have run support, there is little more a pitcher can do, espically if he holds the other team to 2 or less runs.

Jenks is just stud! I hate saying that about a Sox player, but they just came out to win!

As far as the Rangers they recrute differently than other teams, they try and get the established "All Star" and ends up getting burned. This is very evident in the A-Rod case. GRanted if one player in baseball deserves the money he is getting payed, A-Rod does deserve it. However no body deserves to get paid $252 million to play baseball.

They need to recrute younger talent, espically PITCHING!!! Pitching wins games, period. This is why the Sox are going to win. :flaming:

Instead of A-Rod the Rangers should have recruted Randy Johnson harder when the were the leading team to get him, instead they wen't with A-Rod. Johnson later lead the Diamondbacks to a World Series win, A-Rod lead the Rangers to the off season

The only problem is that NO pitchers want to come to Arlington to pitch in our Launching Pad of a ballpark.

I would have to agree that it is a hitters park, but it is by far no where close to a launch pad like Coor's Field in Denver

I lived in Houston for 35 years and at one point lived across the street from the Dome and used to go to games in 1980-81 for $2.. just walked across the parking lot:ron: This was the day of the rainbow uniform (I still like em). It was so disheartening to watch it because they were so close in each game and could have won each game.. they kind of remind me of that team back then that went to the playoffs, great pitching but couldnt get the hitting done when they really needed it..
My other issue is that I never got over the last strike by baseball back in the 90's. I thought it was the most stupid thing the players could do. These guys have a great meal ticket and the other pro sports figured out that you need a salary cap and shared revenue to make it work. Look at football and basketball. The owners (i.e. read investors at risk) get a return and the players get paid well.. Heck, what are the league minimums? gotta be at least $400k a year.. If you are a middle of the road performer, you are living large..
So to me MLB just kind of sucks in total. The owners, the players, etc.. the drug issues, etc.. but the players on the 'Stros, always seemed to be decent guys..

MLB league minimum for some one on the 40 man roster is $325,000. That even includes the bullpen catcher who will never actually play in a game, just warm up the pitchers.

As far as salary cap, it will never change, with the players union set up so early, and being so strong

The Yankees will always spend $100's of millions on players to pay the luxury taxes

The best teams to watch IMO are the Cubs and Red Sox. They are the only two teams in baseball the I actually watch and follow. In fact the only games I went to were the 3 game series against the Red Sox in Arlington , and flew to Chicago to watch the Red Sox and Cubs play.

The Stros always have had class act players on their teams. You never hear of players in the news for drugs, more money, bad rep's. Not to say the are 100% without those problems, but not as televised as other teams. I was really pulling for the Stros so Clemens could finally retire, Biggio and Bagwell playing for 18 years and finally making it to the series.

Oh well my .02
