View Full Version : TALON Fall Classic head count
Sixpipes
11-20-2005, 12:50 PM
I have already ordered the awards so it really doesn't matter how many folks show up. Just wanted to give members/non members a chance to let us know you are planning on attending. Race details here...
http://www.talonclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9832
Some general information on track rules at TAD;
http://www.templeacademy.com/faq.html
Also, the track opens at 2PM. Test & tune is scheduled to start at 3PM although when I was there a couple of weeks ago, the track was not ready at 3PM. I would suspect that you can get all the runs you can stand between 3PM-5PM. I suspect the races will be over by 10PM making it a fairly late night out. Please let me know if you plan on racing or just hanging out.

I doubt that we will make it, but we will try. I have been to Austin the last two weekends and will be in Waco this weekend. I need a weekend at home, but Stacy will probably want to go see her new niece in Round Rock. If she makes me go then we will also hit the Classic.
If we are there Stacy will probably run it down the track.

We should be sure we cover some of the safety stuff in the drivers meeting
NOT turning in front of another driver at the end of the track is a BIG one.

We will have our own driver's meeting prior to the race as usual. Safety will be the #1 topic. :tu:

Getting out of a upside down truck is harder than it appears to be.. Ive had to do it twice, not at the track tho. You just have to stay calm, its the only way you will get out fast and safely. When i wrecked my truck and it was on its side i had to climb up and out of the passanger side window and jumped to the ground before any of the passing cars had time to stop. Then sum guy tackled me to the ground and told me ijust had a wreck..

Wow..............turning into a lane with a car comming down it is just STUPID!!!! Thank goodness nobody was hurt. I have actually come to a stop before waiting for the guy closest to the turn offs to get the hell off the track.
I suppose it is one of those things we all assume everybody knows......at least until someone pulls a boner like that.
Warning to all.....my truck doesn't stop very fast at the big end. I take damn near the entire run off to get slowed down enough to turn....in the name of all that's Holy...please don't turn in front of me. I will probably ram you.

I normaly let the faster car/ or car thats ahead of me to turn first then i decided what to do.. You always have to keep your eyes open.
Thats why i dont like the idea of folding your mirrors in cause you cant see what the guy behind you is doing, which could have been the reason for the accident in the halo club.
tliss
11-21-2005, 04:34 PM
I just think it is safest to let the guy in the lane where the turnoff is exit first, regardless of how fast he is. I've sat at the end of the track just like Rocks has said waiting for that guy. It's just good policy to do that, and that way you don't rammed in the ass.
By the way, I am a definite maybe for the event. Got some family matters to take care of soon, and don't know if I'll be able to free myself up in time to go to the Classic. Talked to Rocks today and he tried guilting me into going, so we'll just see...no guarantees. If I can't make it, I've all ready made arrangements for the group pics that have been paid for to be taken down and distributed, so don't worry.

You guys are right on target. The inside guy (nearest the turn lane) has right of way. Very simple to just stay in your lane after the finish. The guy in the far lane usually has a solid white stripe that is suppose to send the message DO NOT CROSS THE SOLID LINE, but things happen. I think a friendly reminder will be in order at the TFC.

Never fails everytime im at kennedale i get cut off from the outside lane atleast once and almost Tbone some idiot...
My statement earlier was because normaly the fast guy is always in the lane where the turn out is when i run.

I should be able to get atleast a 11.1x or maybe even a 11.0 w/ the cold air and all. That plus I'm counting on you sleeping at the light. It should be a tight race.

Wow...it might just be a tight race. I have been steady at 11.2x's , I figure I can spike up my tune a bit and maybe pull out a high 10.9X . I guess I can just relax now and put her around 11.1x's.... .

Well I guess since your going to de-tune a bit. I wont worry about recharging my K&N. It might just come down to the driver.... .

Terry will have fuel.........he just needs to know if he can count on the club members to buy it and not leave him holding the bag on a drum of 104 unleaded.
Lets support the man that's paying the prize money....;)

Only if it is a brand new drum, the last gas I got was bottom of the drum and may have caused my Kansas City issues.

I can assure you it's brand new from Terry......:D . I can also assure you that your chances of getting crap fuel are alot greater at the track than they are from a known source.
But I am wondering why the race fuel you used at Kansas would be more suspect than the gas you pump out of the ground at the service station you stopped at on the way to Kansas?

I was empty when I arrived at the track in Mo, no issues until I added the gas at the track, but I agree with your comments, Terry please bring me gas for next weekend.
Thanks,
Mark

How dare you insult my fuels! Sunoco says it keeps for 8-12 months with no probs. I never have a drum longer than 6 months usually 3-4. It is always kept inside and sealed tight. I just opened the 104 three weeks ago and still have not opened the 116 drum. Both are stored inside and sealed tight. Both will be at the track. I have @40gals of 104 left and 54gals of 116. $6.50 and $8 respectively. Ennis was $7 for 104 during Sept FFW.

I have added Fuzion to the race list even though he drives a Harley. Speak now or forever hold your peace. I know we had a rather heated discussion about non-lightnings on the forum so here is your chance. The weather looks like it will be near record high temperatures on Saturday (80+ degrees).
Also, for the record, the track does have 104 unleaded if Terry runs out.
