Help with Steering Wheel Sensor Install

I was hoping someone would have access to the manual pages for installing the SWPS 15231656 - The part is $80 MSRP and the dealer wanted $500 to install. In looking at the drawings it looks like I may have to remove the steering column ? I just want some clarification before I dive in ...

I found a few articles - walk throughs based on C5 - want to make sure there are no C6 specific gotchas

See part 54 in drawing below

Anyone have any helpful ideas ?
    Thanks in advance

    Doug

James is still working on cars in his spare time over at John's place. Might be worth giving him a call. I have his number if you need it.

I noticed that you also posted on the vette forum. I'm sure one of the C6 guys can give you some feedback. The universal gotcha on any work inside the cab of a vette is, you need to have a midget available to help out. Good luck on your quest.

The airbag would make me nervous too. You need very good info before trying that, removing a column is usually not dangerous or difficult.

As a last resort you can pay $20.00 for 3 days access to the SI manuals through ACDelco Tech Connect
    http://www.acdelcotechconnect.com/html/tss_tech_esi.jsp
The GM SI (GM Service Information) manuals are now acceessed on line in lieu of the older DVD that covered up through 2005.
